Disabling Seat Belt Chime
I remember there was a way to disable the seat belt chime when it sounds repeatedly above 12 mph until you fasten your seat belt. Can someone explain how to disable it? I remember it was in a thread a couple of years ago. If someone can direct me to the thread, or explain how to do this, it would be appreciated. Thanks.

Is there a way to convince you not to disable it? If you share the purpose, may be some one can suggest an alternative.
The switch is in the receiver part of the buckle. One can stick the tongue or modify the wire leading to the switch.
Most mechanics would not touch it as it deals with safety override.
Note: Last time the person who asked similar question was offended when I wrote comments as to why it should not be done.

TURN OFF SEATBELT CHIME:
1) Turn the car on but do not start the engine, keep foot off brake. Cycle your trip reset button until it reads ODO. Turn ignition back off and wait a few seconds.
2) Make sure seatbelt is not fastened.
3) Turn the ignition back on, but do not start the car, keep foot off brake. As soon as you see everything light up, press and hold the trip reset button and do a long 12 second count.
4) Keep your finger on the trip reset button! Fasten your seat belt. As soon as you fasten the seat belt you should see the ODO display go from XXXX miles to "b-on". At that time take your finger off of the trip reset button and press it again. It should cycle to "b-off". Turn off ignition and you are done.

That is awesome that someone knows the programming features that well! I still agree that the safety feature should not be disabled. But i have to ask, how did you figure out that technique of disabling? It sounds like a programming thing or something. So if one disables the way described, is that permanent until you follow a re-enabling procedure or reset the ECM?
