Default Sunroof switches on 2008 RX 350 can't be this poorly designed, can they?

I just bought a certified pre owned 2008 RX350 which is quite a step up from my tired old 1999 RX. On my old RX, there was one switch that operated the sunroof; one press would cause it to fully retract, fully close, fully tilt up, and un-tilt. On my 2008 RX, there are two switches on is unlabeled and the other says Tilt. Here is what is really surprising and disappointing: regardless of which of the two switches I use, the motion of the sunroof stops immediately when I stop pressing the switch. Either switch causes the sunroof to go through the full range of motion without pausing at the closed and untilted position. By this I mean that that when closed and I press eiher switch (towards the rear of the car) it will retract as long as I keep pressing the switch. When the sunroof is fully retracted and I press either switch (towards the front of the car) it will close, not pause at all at that psition, and then continue to tilt up. Consequently, I have to hold the switch and release it precisely at the closed and untilted position.

I suspect that it wasn't designed to operate that way. When buying the car, I asked the salesman to have the remote unlock all doors on the first press of the unlock button. It does that, but unfortunately, neither remote will lock the car (I have to lock it using the door switch). I think this and the weird sunroof operation are all related problems. Does anyone else's 2008 RX sunroof do the same thing as mine?

By a strange coincidence I recently had my key reprogrammed to unlock everything on the first click, and also had a new battery installed. (2006 RX350) The sunroof behaved in exactly the same way. There is an entry in the user's manual on how to reset it - from memory you have to hold the slide button in the open position while the sunroof cycles through all possible positions. It will then go to the fully closed position and operate properly after that.

There is obviously a problem with the remote not unlocking the doors - take it back to the dealer.

You need to reset its operation. Mine opens and closes with one touch of the button.
