This started a couple of months ago. When you open the rear door, one of the struts sounds like its stuck, and creaks loudly as its opened. It almost sounds like the door is sticking closed.

Anyone else have this issue? Car is going in this week for the recall, so Ill have them look at this as well.

Did one of the struts possibly get damaged causing it to bind up?

Nothing has happened to the car that would have caused them to get damaged. No accidents, the door hasn't been opened into anything, no weight has been put on the door. It started happening out of the blue...

do you mean the hatch or the door??

if you mean the door, its the door check, i lubed mine and its fine now

I would suggest having the dealer look at it under warranty, especially if you have the power rear door option and it has something to do with the lifting mechanism.

Does it only make the noise opening?

Had this with the front doors on our old '04. They replaced the doors struts/guides & all was well.

i had this problem as well with my 04' try to spray wd-40 into it....it works on mine.

Or if you had extended warranty, this would have been qualified.

Any mechanical problems, will be covered by the Lexus Extended warranty (related to operation of key mechanisms).

Took the car in for the recall, and asked them to fix at the back door, and I explained the noise. Unfortunately my wife went to pick the car up. They told her they couldn't replicate the noise and she never bothered to check.

This is the second instance where I've taken the car in and had them give me the run around. Last time I said to the service manager, am I going to need to argue with you every time I bring the car in for service?

Apparently the answer is yes.

^I feel for you. You know there is a problem and they (the dealer) knows you wouldn't be there if everything was ok, yet they tell you all is well and the problem muxt not exist.

Like everything else, some dealers don't try hard enough. Any others within practical distance, give them a try. Your dealer is taking your business for granted.
