I am an experimental kind of guy,and was considering trying 5W-20 castrol GTX my next oil change. I know the 06 have a tsb for 5W-20,but not the 05. I dont really see what it could hurt? What say you guy`s?

I'd even recommend the Toyota branded 0w20 which, (from VOAs at www.bobistheoilguy.com) looks to be an excellent oil. I'm running it in my 2006 400h. Also had two VOAs done at two different labs.

I don't imagine much changed in the 3.3 from 05-06. If you feel like digging deeper, you could ask your local Lexus/Toyota dealer. When I bought the 0w20 from my Toyota dealer, the part manager had a list of all the vehicles/engines that it could be used in. Unfortunately, I only made sure mine was on there. That being said, my model engine is the same as yours.

5W-20 is now the standard for Lexus-Toyota engines.

Can be used for the 3.3's.

I will stick to the 5W-30's for my 3.3.

Because I have 3 years worth of 5W30 synthetic oil sitting on my shelf....most of them bought nearly free, such as:

PP
QS Ultimate
Castrol Edge
QS Torque
Valvoline Syn
