90,000 Service
My Lexus RX330 2004 is heading towards the 90,000K service area--what price should I be expecting? I bought this car used with around 75K where they changed the cabin and air filters already. And I believe that the 90K also has that items on the list..can I tell service to not change those and get a discount?
And I also got a Platinum Warranty for 5 years---which covers the water pump. In That case--do I need to change it since it is covered?
Thanks!
KC

Each Lexus dealer prices the services different. The main things to replace at that mileage are:
Oil/Filter
a/c filter
air filter
brake fluid, alogn with all the inspections etc... should run you around $450.
But some dealers add or subtract certain items from that list.

Well i have been lookin into this service as well. Each dealer is a little different however the services should be the same. There are two service due at this mileage.
1st-All the fun stuff-timing belt, drive belts and plugs and water pump.
2nd-All the fluids and filters are changed and inspections etc.
Lexus Dealer-$1700
Toyota Dealer-$1200
I live in California so things are more expensive around here but as you can see the significant difference in price between the two. Expect to pay that much to do a quality 90k service.
Quite frankly after this service the car is practically like brand new.

The water pump will not fail until 120K+ miles. Will your car still be covered with extended warranty then?
Get it done on 110K miles. Good luck.

90k is not a scheduled major tune up. 100k+ is. I have to check my manual.
Checked the manual and yes indeed, 90K is the major tune up which specifies the timing belt be replaced.
I have heard many times that Toyota timing belt is good for 100K. I will probably wait for 100K to do mine. Maybe when it comes, I would have the guts to do a DIY!

Warranty will not replace any component that has not broken down. You really do not want to be stranded with a failed water pump.

Minus the inspections which you can do easily:
DIY
Oil and Filter change $6 + 5 x $5.00 = $31.00.
AC Filter $20
Air Filter $15
Drain, purge, $15.00
3 hours of DIY. $81 in material. @ $80/hr that's only $240 + $81. Are you worth $80 per hour?

My Lexus dealer wanted $504.00 for the 90k service. So I did everything myself, except I took it to my mechanic friend to do the transfer case/rear diff. Glad i did,he had to heat up the rear fill plug to get it out. OOP`s,I SCREWED UP! that was for a 60k service not the 90. probably almost the same anyway though.

My Lexus dealer charged me $364 for that service and I got a new RX as a loaner. I'd be checking prices at other dealers.

I'm getting the service done today. I purchased all of the parts so I did not have to pay retail. I spend $611 on the following parts:
drive belts
timing belt
water pump
idler assembly
all new gaskets
So the bill will be for labour only
