Me, Toyota T-IV drained and filled every 15K (every other SYN engine oil change), 4 qts to be exact. Just like the rest of my fleet.

Yeppers. Clean it out and pour, there wasn't anything out of the ordinary in terms of shavings IIRC, i was jsut surprised that there was nothing to remove and change [filter]

Well, you failed to state current mileage(s) on the car. Nice to see someone else using just the Toyota Spec Oil.

it is rumored that 2010 models use synthetic though im not 100% sure. They still use gear boxes, only hybrids use CVT

The maint schedule on my 09 recommends changing tranny fluid every 60k (if used for towing). No maint at all if you don't tow. One could certainly change the fluid every 60k, or 30k for overkill.

It also states:
"Using automatic transmission fluid other than “Toyota Genuine ATF WS” may cause
deterioration in shift quality, locking up of your transmission accompanied by vibration,
and ultimately damage the automatic transmission of your vehicle."

I think older models used ATF IV. A lot of transmissions are very sensitive to the type of fluid. The above statement in the manual could be used to void any warranty claims should you use non-approved fluid.

2004 RX330 with 125,000 miles. Had transmission fluid changed once, at 110k. No problems other than the original jerking when shifting, which took about a dozen trips to the dealer to finally get them to load the proper program, fixing the problem.

2004 RX330 w/ 108K miles; never had the transmission fluid changed yet; had the ecu flashed in 2005 and have been pumping premium since, but still jerks from 2nd to 3rd gear once in a while. it also delays shifting sometimes from 2nd to 3rd, but other than that, still going strong.

Why would u not change your tranny fluid? U say u are having some issues so it would only make since to get a flush out of tranny fluid.

A $100 bill is a lot cheaper then a new tranny.

Thumbs up RX transmission problem?

I have a 2004 RX330 with 93,000 miles, zero problems with anything. What is considered "high milage"?
