I have only had these for 2 days and the noise level is higher than the worn out Michelins. I did a ton of research, and every review said these were quieter than the Michelins. I have 30psi in them - which is the vehicle recommendation. Any ideas as to why these are noisier than everyone else that has them on their RX? I thought about possibly increasing the air pressure, but that would firm up the ride & I believe increase noise even more. I don't want to lower the psi.

I have only driven about 40 miles, so is there an initial break-in period that will quiet down? I have a 30 day guarantee to switch out & my wife doesn't drive much (17,500 miles since we bought the RX new in late '03). I plan to drive it daily to put some miles on the tires before I decide to switch out. I don't want to go back to the Michelins, but not sure what else to try. I was thinking of going with the Parada-X, since they were also rated very high & low noise. Any input would be helpful.
Sorry to hear about your experience. I've driven less than 1,000 miles on mine so far so I can't give a reliability/longevity estimate yet. I do find them quite a bit quieter than the old Cooper Sport AS I used to have. They come with 12/32 tread which I *hope* will last at least 50k (rated at 60k).

The Parada-X were my second choice. I choose the Alenzas mostly because I found more total number of reviews on them (and with people who had them for thousands of miles). Vast majority of the reviews for both tires were positive.

What is the best tire for ride quality and least road noise? I'm in Arizona and not concerned with snow/rain performance.

Also in AZ here and needing new tires on my RX330. I have it narrowed down to these:

Yokohama Prada Spec-X rated 420
Yokohama YK520 rated 520
Continental Extreme Contact DWS rated 540 with 50k wty.

Anyone that has these or has shopped them and would be so kind as to share their research and experience would be Great!

Don't need snow tires or winter tires. Just nice summer/all season tires with nice looks, decent life (40-50K), low road noise and good dry and wet performance.

THANKS!!

I'm switching from the Alenza's to Michelin Latitude Tour 235/55/18. They are an amazing 6 lbs. lighter per tire and .3 inches wider tread width than the Alenza's. I'm hoping they will improve my lousy gas mileage.

Alenza has moe thread depth, so more weight and longer life. One has to choose between more tire life and better mpg.

Just read the thread and wanted to throw in my experience with the Michelin MXV4 S8 235/55/18 tires. Just replaced them on my 04 RX330 with another set of Michelin MXV4 S8s after 55,000 miles...they still weren't to the wear bars, probably could have gone another 10,000 miles. They are hands down better than the Goodyear Eagles that were the OEM tire for my vehicle, those lasted less than 25,000 and I had continuous balance issues with them. My 09 RX350 has a set of OEM Michelin MXV4 S8 235/55/18 on it as well and after 18,000 miles they still look new.

I now consider myself a Michelin man or is that fan?

My 09RX350 also came OEM with the Michelins you describe. Of course, snow is not an issue in FL, but I have found them to be good tires in the dry and also in the wet (tropical rains), at least at warm temperatures. They are a little noisy, though.

Default I like Michelins

Unfortunately, my 2007 RX-350 came equipped with Goodyears. At my last service (38,000 miles) they told me I need new tires. The dealer price, balanced and with stems for Michelins was nearly $1200. The wheel alignment isn't included. I can get the same thing at Costco for $802.

I had high-speed Michelins on my Honda Accord. One set lasted 82,000 and the second set had over 70,000 when I sold the car. Keep in mind that they were only 15 inch tires (more revolutions per mile) and were driven at German Autobahn speeds, routinely in excess of 100-110 mph.

I will follow my dealer's advice and replace the tires, but they will be Michelins for sure. On the flip side, I had a friend, with Michelins on his Bimmer and he got only about 50K miles on his. Maybe I was just lucky, but why buy a different tire, when I have been pleased with Michelins?

If you're happy with them - why - indeed - not buy them?
The weight of the car seems to have more effect on wear than the size of the wheels. -- I have a BMW with Contis, and they lasted +/- 20K miles. I was told by the dealer that the BMW suspension settings make for more tire wear, though I do not know how that would work since my tires wore nicely/evenly.

I don't think tread depth matters at all. Shedding 24 pounds of unsprung weight from the car on the other hand, should make a difference in improved gas mileage and better handling.

I see a lot of people getting the Michelin Latitude Tour tire, which are T Speed rated, whereas the RX330 AWD 18" comes with V rated Energy MXV4 tires. Is that ok? I called Michelin and also my local firestone and both recommended not downgrading.

I would be more concerned about the load index value (100V vs. 99T), though it is only one point different. Means the max load for the vehicle would be less.
