Driver side cup holder won't stay in

Driver side cup holder won't stay in
When I try to push the cup holder that sits left of the driver in on my parent's RX 330, it won't stay. It seems like I can't push it in all the way like something is stuck behind it. Has anyone experienced this or know how to remove this to see if there is something that is preventing it from catching?
