EDIT: I wanted to add that 5K happens to correspond to 6 months for us. And I do it every 6 months or 5K miles, whichever comes first.
Because they make mistakes too my friend.

6 months or 7,500 miles, whichever comes first, on synthetic, per the owners manual.

The engineers have now decided that you can go 10000 miles on the Toyota brand 0W20 on certain models/years.

5000-7500 miles on whatever synthetic oil on sale with a Purolator pure one. Could go further but too lazy to get oil analysis to verify so I go with what seems to me to be safe interval.

Why is it a big deal on any car forum about what oil, how many miles and ect?
I'm on BMW forum too. So BMW is recommended to changed oil each their BMW's 15,000, yes it sound strange, but service indicator is showed how many miles due to next service left. Those miles are depended how do you drive, in the words mpg.
I'm driving more aggressively on BMW then on Lexus, so my oil interval shorted then actual miles I drove on car. But I still do each 10,000 miles at the most.
Lexus is another car, and I will change oil each 7,500-10,000 on good Castrol, Mobil, Pensoil or Lubro Moly 5W30 synthetic.

5k on Mobil1 5W-30 and I rotate the tires at the same time. On my BMW with the extended oil package, it is supposed to be good for 13000+. I let the dealer change it at the required interval and then change the oil myself after 5000 using the Mobil1 0-40 and a BMW filter.

so true. I'm on the once a year plan with two of my cars a '96 Ford Ranger and a '00 Lincoln LS V8. I use Mobil 1 and these cars go 7-9k miles a year. The RX 350 is my wife's and we're out of warranty latter this month and she drives more miles than I do. I'll probably go 6-8K on that with Mobil 1.

Frequent oil changes seem to offer psychological benefits to the owner, I'm not sure, given quality oil and filters, the vehicles care very much. I personally feel it's a waste of money and natural resources. A good part of that money goes to people who don't like us very much

Synthetic 5W-30, 6~7K miles. I check the oil every month. If the oil looks cruddy and deep brown, I change it, regardless of mileage. If it looks golden yellow, I change it on or about 7K. I have not seen the RX330 have the deep brown color.
