Default Bad luck on the interstate...

I'm driving on I-75 about 2 hours south of Atlanta and a semi truck blows a tire and leaves debris on the center lane. A Honda Accord infront of me hits something in the road and then I hit it going about 78 mph. Both of us get off on the emergency lane and I find out I have two blown driver side tires and a bent rim! Lucky no one was hurt but long story short, I got towed a small tire place and got screwed on one new tire for $260 that wasn't even the correct size. Great way to start a vacation.

wow, just what was it that you ran over ? the Gator ? And as far as the tire not being the correct size, thats just not acceptable. Sorry to hear about this,I hope you still enjoy your vacation, and at least no one was hurt.

I always rent. Just came back from a 2000 miles road trip. It saves on the wear and tear and the potential of a ruined vacation is less. When I come back, I appreciate my 10+yr vehicle over the latest vehicle [this time Kia minivan]. Thank you Hertz.

Originally I thought it was a truck tire but after I looked at the damage to the tire and wheel, I really think it was a piece of wood or metal (happened 3:30am so still dark). It ripped the sidewall from the rim to the tread. The rest of the vacation was good but I made sure to scan ahead as much as possible on the way back!
Of course, my insurance said it was not covered under "comprehensive" since it was laying on the road...They said if it was coming at me like a projectile, they may have covered it. I got screwed.

Huh ? I recently ran over an obstacle in the road way,and my company covered it. $1,800.00 worth of damage and all I had to pay was my $250.00 Collision deductable.(yes it was under collision, not comp.)

After seeing a bad wreck on the way back from Florida, we were extremely thankful the car was the only thing damaged!

Check with your agent, debris on the road and projectiles (flying rock) may not be under collision. Glad every one is safe.

Road hazards should be covered under comprehensive not collision.

I agree,but in PA,and Selective Insurance,it`s considered collision.
