Default RX330 cost to re-flash the transmission software?

I took my RX in because I thought the transmission was giving me issues beyond the normal RX tranny issues.

I thought the flash upgrade i read about on here was free but my local dealer told me it was going to be $280 to do and that it "might" help.

I told them no, but I find it pretty crummy that flashing the software to fix a problem with their softwre would incur a charge. Even out of warranty. I understand if something broke, but if it was shipped with known issue...

oh well.

since there are no parts required, my dealer quoted me 1 hour labour (probably only takes 20 minutes) which would be around 110 bucks.

No idea what a good price should be to do this. As far as fixing a transmission problem, the computer upgrade did fix my issues. This was done while my RX330 was still under warranty. The problems were mainly, the transmission clunked loudly when downshifting, and there was a noticeable delay when trying to accelerate quickly. Before it was finally fixed, they argued like crazy that the car was performing as designed. They re-programmed it several time, and the final time they did it fixed the problem. I had taken the car in for this problem 6 or 8 times. Good free coffee while I waited, and they always gave me a loaner if I asked.

What is going on is the shop is unwilling to eat up the cost .. the mechanic gets paid either by manufacturer (in-warranty) or the customer (typically out of warranty).

I would suggest call Lexus and ask them to step up.

Will this solve your problem or make it worse. You are on the right track by asking other members.
