Stupid thing happened to me last night
Well,I get the dumb-*** award for last evening! I was rotating my tires, and I let down the front of the car (which was a little more abrupt than I expected). And I hear that dreaded wood cracking (that I place on my floor jack so it`s not a metal to metal contact) and SLIP-BONG!!!! The floor jack slid off the rear support, and landed right on my friggin drive shaft for the rear wheel drive!! So I go back to the rear of the vehicle, saw what happened, and I see a dent in my drive shaft. (Thank GOD I temporarliy put my rear wheel in place) After I finished up,I slid under the RX to see if I F*^$ed up the drive shaft. Everything looks ok,and the shaft is nice and thight. I took it up on the highway to confirm no vibrations etc. so far all seem`s well. Boy do I feel stupid!

I hear that racer. Hearing that wood crack, and just knowing what was coming next was bad enough by it self.

Safety first. All it takes is a millisecond and somebody's hurt. Nothing replaces right equipment and taking your time. Never use the jack as your primary support, never! Guilty once upon a time. But realized it was like playing russian roullette. Not worth it.

I know, and I was thinking, If I didnt have the AWD, it might have been worse. Probably would have dented the floor of the RX pretty bad. I am surprised how well built these cars are though.

Well so far anyway it seems to be fine. I hope nothing act`s up later on. Funny how the first thing that entered my mind was; how am I going to explain this one to my wife? She doesnt like me playing around to begin with, She think`s that is what the dealer is for.

I was jacking up the front of our RX once in our driveway with one of those little trolley jacks from Walmart (before I bought a heavy duty one) and the thing slipped off. The driveway wasn't completely flat so that was part of it, also the jack's contact point was very small. Good thing nothing bad happened, aside from it landing rough and tearing up the plastic undercover. I think it also messed up the alignment, but I'm not completely positive on that one. Lesson learned! From that point on, I always lift up our cars in the garage.
