I'd like to mention that I did an OIL Change on 10/22/2022 on my 2007 Lexus RX350 and for the 2nd time the Oil filter cartridge was Completely Clogged up Again, it's a OEM Toyota Filter Cartridge, so it's not because it's a Cheap No Name,Low Quality Oil filter, that's the 3rd Oil change in Less than 2 years,1 by the Dealership,2 by me, I spent an hour checking out the vehicle before purchasing, I could tell that the dealership changed the Oil because it was so clear
How was I to know that the previous owner Neglected Maintenance Items, like Oil changes?I wasn't about to remove the Front Valve Cover to inspect it for Sludge build up,, I should have known because last year I noticed that the PVC valve was completely plugged up to (I replaced it) I also replaced the lower Oil cooler line with the updated Toyota All Metal Line,I've been using Amsoil 5w30 100% synthetic to slowly Clean Up the Gunk and Sludge inside the engine, I'M Hesitant to Put Engine flush because it may loosen up Big chunks of sludge and clog up the VVT Solenoids,
The 2nd issue I had is the 2 piece Canister that houses the Oil filter cartridge The smaller part Refuses to unthread from the bigger part, so I had to take it off as one piece/unit, my concern is that won't that smaller o-ring eventually start leaking Because I can't get it off to replace the O-ring? Because it happened last year to, somebody Definitely Over Torqued it in the Past, Someone suggested that I use an impact gun next time to "Shock It Loose", maybe I will try that next OIL Change
But I am pretty sure I caught the engine sludge problem before catastrophic engine damage occured
Aside from that, it's a really nice SUV!

Those solenoids have their own little filters that, I think, are very easy to access. You could clean those screens with some brake/parts cleaner after you do a flush, or just replace those filters. They're not too expensive.
I use OEM Toyota Oil Filter Cartridges, I just ordered a 5 pack from Toyota of Miami for $26+tax, Free shipping
I change my motor Oil every 3-4 thousand miles

Wow thats a real bummer, 'bout the neglect of the po......I'd drain 3 qtrs & add 3 qtrs of auto trans fluid & drive it around for a few hundred miles, just no full bore blasts.....change the oil/filter & add the same 3 qtrs engine oil, 3 qtrs trrans fluid w/ a new filter......Try that for 3-4 times.....
mobil 1 is the best and easily avaible. mobil 1 filter + 0w-40 oil, you only need to change every 1 year/10k miles, proved by Toyota
THIS IS TOTALLY NOT NOT NOT TRUE..The easiest way to destroy you engine - I don't use these words lightly - is to go for 10,000 miles with your oil changes on Toyota/Lexus.
The newer engines, from the late 1990's onward use a low tension oil ring set. IF you don't change the oil every 5,000 miles, this ring set has a tendency to coke up and begin to cut into the walls of the cylinder. It will end up causing major oil consumption. CHANGE YOUR OIL EVER 5,000 MILES - WHICH OIL IS REALLY NOT THAT IMPORTANT AS LONG AS ITS SYNTHETIC. JUST CHANGE IT
Here is a master Toyota mechanic tearing down an engine that has used longer intervals - a must watch -

I have owned over 50 cars of every type, raced, torn down, built, etc. This will save you a lot of headaches in the long run.
I Totally Agree!!!
I spent many years as a Professional Auto Tech, and I've Seen the damage Extended Oil Change Intervals cause!, Expensive!!
Use a Good Quality Oil, I prefer a Full Syn Oil, the oil Viscosity the Mfr Recommends, a Good Quality Filter and the oil change Interval the car Mfr Reccomends!
You Can't go Wrong following their Recommendations!!
Don't Learn the Hard Way!!
