I have been noticing of late that my engine noise is seeping into the cabin more than when I first bought the car. The car during acceleration is noticeable, unless it's a really really gentle acceleration. I know these cars are meant to be super quiet and at anything generally above 60km/h it's barely noticeable as it's travelling.

There is nothing wrong with acceleration and the engine is fine, but just surprised at the noise. My ES300 is almost dead silent (even at WOT) compared to the RX? I also have a bit of tyre noise, but my tyres are relatively new and are a MAXXIS brand (quiet tyres). Even my twin-turbo & V8 Soarer's were ultra-quiet.

I am looking at what options I can use to quieten down that engine noise. I know that being a SUV it is inherently louder (particularly with wheel noise) and have looked at the option of putting in the fiber fill in the trunk area to deaden some of the noise.

The engine is not due for another service for 9000km's and my car was sitting in the garage for 2 months not doing anything while I was away on holiday. However out house-sitter did start it every so often.

Does anyone notice this as well? I'm almost tempted to take out the camera and see if I can get an audio reading with the car running.
