Default TSB ECU upgrade for transmission

Hello,
I've got an appointment scheduled to get my ECU flashed. I have 129000km on my RX. I remember some people have been able to claim it under warranty. May I get some advice.
Thanks

I had my 04 RX 330 AWD flashed and found that I got better city mpg afterwards. Highway MPG was unchanged. I also changed my Goodyear OEM tires to Bridgestone Alenza's at the same time so I can't be sure which attributed to the increase in MPG. The trans lag was lessened by this flash but is still there.

I think this may be covered by Lexus. It only takes a few minutes to apply.

It would be covered under warranty. However, this late, out of warranty, and with over 80K miles I would make sure you discuss price with the dealer in advance lest you get an unexpected bill afterwards.

Any Lexus dealer should be able to do this for you.

So I went to Ken Shaw Lexus today for the lagging transmission. The technician looked and discovered that I have the lastest TSB 'flash' available. So the lagging shifts has not been resolved, yet still present.

The service manager stated that one option available is to reset the ECU and go from there. Yet his experience is that resetting the ECU is a 50/50 gamble, either the problem get worse or it resolves itself. I think one of the other problems is that there is 2 drivers- my wife and myself.

Any thoughts as I'm interested.

Thanks in advance,
Chris

Look at it this way, it's either going to get worse sooner or later, or you can try to reset the ECU and hope it makes it better. Either way you have nothing to lose except doing the repair sooner and you would eventually have to repair it later if you do nothing.

That stinks for the OP because 129,000 km is about 80,1xx miles.
You better put the car up on jacks and drive in reverse for about an hour. lol.

The buyers have a bit of leeway on milage. Ask nicely first and most probably Lexus would comply.

The odos are never accurate and specially when the milage is based on number of turns of the wheel, which registers more miles than the actual distance traveled as the tires wear out. [poor wording, but you get the picture]

So ask first.

I agree, ask nicely since your mileage is just there! Bring them some breakfast

why would it get worse ? From all the searching and research I have found so far -its a software issue. the 04-06 supposely have it worse than the 07-09 its a bit less noticeable - right ?
