Default After Market Radio Install - No sound

Just installed a double Din GPS/DVD player in my wifes 2004 RX-330. I have no sound at all. I used the Metra 70-8113 harness and everything else works. I am guessing this is a problem caused by the amp not turining on, but it did wire the amp turn on.. Need advise on how to get this working or if I shoudl do a amp bypass?

Do you hear anything coming from the speakers?

nothing at all. its like the amp isn't turned on. I read here on the forums that it is activated by a data cable and only works with the factory headunit?

If i do the amp bypass do I still use the RCA outputs from the headunit to the RCA inputs on the toyota wiring harness or do I have to use the regular speaker wiring output and cut the factory harness?

Thanks

best I can figure is I clip the plug off at the amp and match the wires that are the same color together. Still thinking I will have to clip the factory harness up at the dash too to get the speakers supplied with power from the headunit

I wouldn't bother rewiring the car and bypassing the amp unless you've exhausted other options.

Did you hear any popping or crackling when you were wiring things up? It's possible you blew the amp. Try hooking up the stock headunit and see if there is sound. If there is then double check to make sure the metra harness is wired up to the headunits amp turn on/power turn/acc power properly. The blue wire and the blue/white wire on these harnesses look similar enough that you could have just wired it wrong and not realized it.

well, I bypassed the amp, not much room to work at all. Got everything wired up and all speakers are playing, but the front drivers side doesnt seem to have as much sound as the other speakers. Only have 4 powered channels from headunit, and have 6 speakers so had to double the front one up.

How did you bypass the amp? Do you have the ML system?

I think you must use TYT0-01 harness right. This harness could be bad. It happened to me before.
