After 2004, they changed the TPMS via sensors on the valves on each of the wheels.

In the future the sensor will be inside the tire itself. They are rolling this new sensor as we speak.

Thank you so much. I not too long ago bought a 2009 Rx 350.

The light came on a few days ago and I didn't want to go back to thedealer. I've been checking and double checking each of the tires. Interesting thing was that all the tires had different psi and one was almost 40. No wonder I was having horrible gas millage. (I guess some things happen for a reason).

Came across this thread and decided to check the spare. It was quite easy to lower. Didn't have to jack up the car. The spare was 23 psi. So I refilled it to 40 psi. So when I need it or when I come up for my 30K inspection I'll lower it.

Always check your pressures after the vehicle has been setting for at least 2 hours. Warm tires will read too high. Remember, with every 10 degree temperature increase, your pressure goes up about 1 psi. That is why most sensors come on in the winter due to the temperature decrease.
