Default Transmission Fluid help

I just had my Rx drained and refilled at a Transmission shop. They used Wolf’s Head DX III-H/M ATF http://www.wolfshead.com/products/atf.html

The owner said that this is compatible to Toyota IV...Now I am wondering will this transmission fluid ruin my transmission or is it ok?

I am a little worried right now. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

It MAY be Type IV compatible, however, I am not seeing it on their spec sheet:

http://www.wolfshead.com/specsheets/trans.pdf

I would call Wolfs Head and ask. Phone number is at the bottom of the sheet.

Their Universal Synthetic ATF is Type IV compatible and would be OK to use.

What year is your RX. Just curious because I know ATF-WS is recommended by Toyota for a lot of their newer transmissions. Regardless, the Wolfs Head stuff they used doesn't seem to be Type IV or WS compatible. Definitely make that phone call.

I have used it before if it`s the universal Synthetic formula. Very good stuff, but it may make your shifts a little more pronounced when the trans is cold.

Called Wolf's Head and spoke with James. He told me it wasn't directly compatible but was very close to their synthetic version. It won't hurt my transmission, but I shifting might be a little different.

Appreciate everyone's help with this.

Ok,if it`s not the Synthetic version, I dont know anything about their regular fluid. If it were mine,I`d get that fluid outta their. Best bet would be Castrol multi Import vehicle fluid,if you cant get the Toyota fluid easily.Changing the fluid is not hard at all to do because their`s a drain plug on the pan. Dex-III is NOT compatable with our transmissions.

Toyota recommends using the T-IV. Nothing else. I would drain and fill it back with Toyota tranny fluid, if I were you. Peace of mind.

Am surprised that your shop owner thought it was OK to use that ATF in a Toyota product. I would be running from that shop and to some place that was more on the ball. Seems this one cannot even read a label.

Wolf's Head Synathic ATF. He had to order the bottles and they were delievered when I arrived at his shop. He only charged me $20.00 dollars for 5 1/2 quarts because of his error.
