I'm leaving NY for 7 months in Florida. I have 1000 miles to my next oil change. Should I change it now ?
It's not clear if you are driving the vehicle to Fla or leaving it. In either case, however, I'd wait. If driving to Fla, I'd do the trip THEN change in Fla. Finish up the old oil cycle then put new juice in after the tough trip.
If not taking the vehicle to Fla, then why put new oil in to deteriorate while you're gone. Let the old oil do that then replace upon return.
Change the oil before storing the car, you definitely want fresh oil in the engine when you go to store it. If your driving to Florida then just change it once you reach Florida, as highway miles are easier on engine oil.
