New '06 330 owner looking for advice on HID moisture/maps/etc...
Greetings, Club Lexus gurus…
We just took possession of a 2006 RX 330 (premium, nav, HID, 42k miles) and are joining the Lexus fraternity for the first time. As I’ve done my research I’ve cruised the archives and have some ideas about my questions, but could still use some clarification, if you would all be so kind…
1) The moisture in the headlights. I’ve seen the various threads, but couldn’t find one that had a fairly step-by-step on how to take them apart, dry them, and put them back together/reseal them. Given that there is no chance the dealer will do anything about an ’06, and I’m too cheap to pay $1000’s for new ones, the rebuild seems the hot tip. Is there a thread link I’m missing?
2) Maps. We’ve got a Gen 4 (boo, old and grainy display) nav system with the original maps. I’m not paying Lexus nearly $300 for an update, and I’ve seen the new maps on eBay. Has anyone used a homebrew update and been successful?
3) Defeating the nag screen and in-motion nav. I see Lockpick – I’m guessing that’s the only real option?
4) Anyone have a preference for good floor mats? I seen zillions on the web – hard to tell what is good and factory-fit quality.

1. All weather mats clear coated is a MUST have for such a comfy car. Buy OEM mats.
2. I use crazy glue on the edges, although you can find a decent cheap sealant fix over the internet.
3. Buy a software update off of an auction site where people referred to as an internet bay?
