Default New prospective owner..any advice? 04 RX330 50k miles

Hey.

I am considering buying an 04 RX330 w/50k miles on it. It's priced very well (under 20k) and looks to be in good condition. We're going to check it in detail on Saturday.

Any advice from the forum of things to look out for, also maintenance advice(what to expect) and minor things that a new owner should know?

I appreciate your input.

Pads and rotors come to mind, many have reported changing them at that mileage. Since you own a Lexus I'm sure you know about checking maintenance at lexus.com. I would just make sure the maintenance has been performed as required and buy it!

Thanks! So it seems like you are agreeing that the year, price, and miles are a good deal?

BTW..the carfax is clean and the car was a former corporate car(hence the low miles). It has record of diligent servicing every 5-10k.

You will require the 60K service before long. Many members here don't have Lexus do this because of cost. It will be half the price if you have the local Toyota dealership do the work.

60K Service:
Engine oil & filter
Cabin air filter
Engine air filter
Replace brake fluid and bleed system
Transmission service
Inspect cooling system & replace coolant it needed
Inspect brakes and rotate tires

Won't this service be covered under an extended warranty?

Sorry, this is actually part of the customer's required service schedule. Lexus has routine minor maintenance every 5000K. Minor and extended service is done at 30K, 60K, 90K, etc. You are required to have this done at your expense. Failure to do so can be a reason to deny warranty. You do not need to do the service at Lexus. Keep all records of maintenance done on the vehicle, be it Toyota or a private shop.

Better yet, log all service done on the Lexus Owner's service history.

Low miles like that, you need to verify how often the oil was changed. Just saw a 2004 at the dealership with 50k on it and they were putting in a new engine, did not change the oil as needed with so few miles driven. It was very well preserved so the owners decided to replace it on their own dime.
