Default Brake Pad Thickness

I just had my RX inspected (PA State Inspection). The dealer reported that the pads, replaced last year about 10,000 miles ago, now have 8/32nds on all 4 wheels. That's great, but I don't know what a NEW pad has to compare.

Daryl, what kind of pads did you install? I had Akebono ceramics on my 300 that had 8mm left after 22K, 95% in town driving. I'm thinking they may have been worth the few extra bucks.

The consumption in 10K miles seems to be high. But the consumption depends on lots of factors like how often you break and how hard you break every time. I used to get 40K out of front break pads.

JM2C:

Hard pads like ceramics will eat the rotors. A little higher in temps. Stops your car quicker. Bit more expensive. Less dust.

OEM pads will deplete earlier than ceramics but is forgiving on the rotors. But dustier.

OEM pads, semi-metallic is obviously is rated sufficient for use.

There are trade offs.

I was using drilled Brembo rotors with the Akebonos which were wearing well, in fact I have ordered a set of Akebonos from Amazon and some drilled rotors for the 330 so hopefully, I'll have the same experience.

I have the 235/55/18 and they are very smooth and quiet. Those same wheels and tires you see on the 300 are now on my 330. What tire pressure are you running?
