Hi,
My RX330 front passenger door lock is stuck and doesn't open from inside or outside. I have given my car to lexus dealership to get it repaired and they said that my platinum coverage would cover the lock assembly. But during the repair, there's a 20% chance that the door panel may break and it would cost ~$800 to get it replaced and my warranty doesn't cover it. How should I go about this? Shouldn't the dealership take care of such mishaps? Please advise.

Be very careful in authorizing the repair, so chose your words carefully when dealing with the dealership.

I would suggest talk to the service manager. I would even suggest calling the insurance ... pull out the contract and there should be 1-800 number. Even call and talk to Lexus corp.

Since you have the warranty, repair should be covered. Anything that needs to be removed to repair the failing part should be covered ... this may be an O ring, a gasket, door panel.

Siva, did you get this problem fixed? How much did it cost you?

My front passenger side is working intermittently now and I do expect it to break soon.

Trying to determine if this is a DIY item or better off with the dealer (e.g. special tools needed).

Any tips and thoughts?
