mileage dropped from 26 to 19.

Sorry but it seems unlikely they going to make a product which is going to be harmed by filling its tank and is completely dependent on the highly variable early shutoff of an automatic pump. There'd be strong warning labels at the filler if that were true. What if you live on a farm and have one of those gravity tanks? Do they shut off way early too (if they have early shutoff at all)?
Auto-shutoff is usually triggered by splashback, not actual fullness and that depends on the nozzle and pump output speed (which is also affected by how clean their final filter is). In my experience it's usually a gallon and a half short of full.
In my case if I'm heading straight home after filling instead of hitting the highway it's going to be at a place at least 3 miles from home so assuming about 15 mpg for local driving that's a drop in a few minutes of .2 gallon or about 46 cubic inches. If the filler is about 2" i.d. (I don't recall) that's over 14 inches of space created very quickly. So the filler will be empty and that's plenty of expansion space.

This weekend I took a 200 mile ride, mostly express way. I filled up before and after at the same pump. I calculated the mileage at 26.2. The computer read out at 23.8. I am feeling good about the car!!!

Same thing has been happening to my 2004 RX 330 (awd) for over more than a year. I finally decided to pick up a HS250h but it would be nice to find out what is wrong with my RX330. The dealer said everything was OK but I used to see avg 20 mpg and now it is only 12-14 mpg. It has always been local drive, same grade of gas and same driving habit. I am very puzzled and I am thinking doing a engine tune up. The car has only 40K miles and recently replaced all 4 tires and aligned. Do I need to reset the on board computer or something?

If it is estimating your MPG incorrectly does it also estimate your remaining range incorrectly? I would expect that would also be off. I'd try pulling the battery for a few minutes and see if it clears the issue, but be prepared to do a lot of re-initializations of windows, hatch, etc. Not sure if there is just a fuse that would do the same thing.

I think I ought to do some more testing myself. I have never paid attention to the remaining range screen. My concern is either the mpg estimate is wrong or the car is only getting lower teen in mpg. I suspect it is the latter. The dealer also told me to wait for the 60K mile service before consider tuning the engine. I guess tuning probably won't help the gas mileage. Will try disconnect the battery and see if there is any improvements. I bought the car used at 16K miles and the previous owner did use premium fuel but I always have been using regular and the first year I did see any change in the gas mileage but the last 15 months it has been steady down hill.
Thanks.
Thanks.
I would recommend you to use bk44 fuel cleaner, and then start using premium gas and see if that improves your gas mileage. When you do this you do need to reset your ECU.
