My SA told me that they get reimbursed by Lexus for this gas. If I didn't get the gas at a dealer, I'd call Lexus corporate and ask why. I'd be very surprised if this was left up to the dealers discretion.

Could they be submitting records for reimbursement and pocketing the cash? Assuming they recall 500 vehicles and submit claims for 10 gallons per recall, that would amount to $20,000 with gas at $4.00/gallon. I'd really want to hear directly from corporate about this.

Took my 2007 RX350 in today for the recall (no other service requested). It had 1/4 of a tank when I took it in. The clips replacement took about 40 minutes and I had a full tank of gas when I left Lexus of Clearwater.

I just filled up my car, and yesterday the recall letter arrived. Based on the above, I think I will wait before scheduling the recall work. Thanks for the tip. Free gas is hard to come by.

I received my second letter yesterday. The first one was call Safety Recall Notice (Interim). The second one was called Safety Recall Notice (Remedy). It says that "replacement of the cover and clips should take approximately 20 minutes", and that replacement parts are available at all dealerships.

I've had my letter for about a month...called Germain Lexus of Easton (Columbus, OH) a couple of weeks ago about the master cylinder and carpet recalls...I wanted them done at the same time, since it's 70 miles each way. They didn't have the parts for the carpet in my color (I need tan/beige) but will e-mail me when received. That hasn't happened yet, so I will give them until about 6/11 or so before I call back. I was assured a loaner would be provided and that the total work time would be around 3 hours. I will be anxious to see what happens with the gas and car wash.

Went in there when the car was on empty. They filled it all the way up with premium gas and I got a car wash too

Is that right? So what if you have an all weather Lexus mat as I have? I have not used the carpet mats from day 1.

Was planning on putting them back on for this recall.

Not with my 2004. Same mats I have had since day one. And after, what, three recalls now on the mats?

I could have sworn my letter stated you get a new smaller (different shape) mat. Well, we`ll see, because I have to get mine to the dealer yet for this..
