Question Molding questions - 2008 RX 350

Hello, can someone tell me if the molding under the hood emblem should look like the picture attached? Just curious if there should be a section missing. I asked at the dealership and was told it was normal, but they also told me other items were normal and that was not the case.

Also, can someone tell me if the molding in the back of the car in the cargo area should be attached by strong adhesive or should it be flexible and be able to be pulled in and out? I noticed it got pulled out slightly when I was unpacking items from the cargo area, must have pushed up against it. I pulled it out slightly today to take the picture and then put it back with no issues.

Thank you in advance for responses.

My grill looks the same so I'd say it is normal. The molding in the rear on my RX has not pulled away like that though. I'd expect it must slide in to a slot. A dab of rubber cement or silicone adhesive might hold it in place.

jfelbab - thanks for the information about the emblem.

As far as the back molding, there is a material on it but it seems more like grease then adhesive. Maybe it just needs to be re-applied. If I understand you correctly your molding stays put and seems fully attached. If that is correct, maybe I should just take it by the dealer and have them re-apply some adhesive while the vehicle is still under warranty.

Both normal. All of the RX's I've seen have their grill gasket look like that. I'm not sure why Lexus did that. The lift gate weather strip is also normal. Most cars have weather strips "pressure fitted", if that's the word, so you can easily "snap" it back on.

Both the same on my '08 as well.

No need to take it in to the dealer for more of that greasy stuff. Just push the molding back into place and that's it.
