1st Road Trip - Key West
I've owned my RX for about 8 months and haven't had the time for a road trip so later this week I'm off to Key West. It's about a 5 hour drive from my house. I'm looking forward to it, Key West is always fun.

No, I don't play soccer!
Bluesjam, time to catch a little Keys disease? Spent many a summers down there. Make sure you take some pictures of your RX on the beach or during one of those beautiful sunsets. Have fun.

Quick road trip question:
Do any of you bring things to wash your car or go to a car wash once you've reached your destination?
We like to start most of our road trips at night which means a ridiculous amount of bugs plastered to the RX at highway speeds. So if we are saying at our destination for a week or so I don't want that to sit on the car for that long.

I took my dad to Key West years ago. He was an incredible human being but he was a 'talker', he talked on the plane, he talked in the hotel, he talked in the rent car. If he was awake, he was talking.
One evening on Sunset Beach we were walking and looking at the incredible sunset when we fell in behind a young lady who was wearing a long dress that was slit up the side. The young lady, in her wisdom, had foregone underwear and as the breezes blew, her dress would quit it's place and elevate away from her charming backside affording us an unimpeded view of twin, sun kissed buttocks.
We followed along (as did a growing crowd) for as long as possible and the second best part was my dad never uttered a word the entire time.

Always bring a can of Quick Detailer and Glass cleaner and a couple of good rags. I also spray a bug protector-shield to help with the bug splash. And just have a car wash when you get there. Lessens the gunk, at least they do not stick to the car.
It was about this time of year 2 years ago had to travel from ATL to Miami. The whole front was gunked up with the bugs. Lesson learned, I installed teh Form-Fit deflector and now am confident I will not have the same crap on my hood and windshield. The deflector actuall assists in getting the gunk out of your windshield.
Enjoy!

If you need any service on the RX while you're in KW, the Toyota dealership (Duncan's--on Roosevelt blvd) provided me with excellent service, when were there in March.

I'm currently in Key Largo. A nice place to get you car washed is at the intersection of US1 and Coconut Row in Tavenier. A nice restaurant in Key West is Conch Republic on Greene street, a wonderful selection of rum to boot
