Wondering what you guys think? It would mean trading in my ram...because I dont want a payment. Reason for trading is:

Fuel Economy
Space for large dog (sheltered space)
Truck just doesnt seem to be nessecary anymore.

KBB says $27k Suggested retail value...are they high? Or is this thing to cheap to be true?

That KBB price seems way off. You should be able to buy a CPO Lexus 2007 RX350 for $27K. Regarding the one you are considering. It is within 850 miles of having to replace the timing belt and major service. $$$

Have you considered selling the Dodge RAM to a private party and buying a CPO Lexus RX?

Shouldn't it have had the belt at 90K? If you've got the records check if it had the full 90K service. You can register at lexus.com and get all the Lexus service records on the car.

Correct Carver, it's 90K for the timing belt. He still has a major service at 120k though. Looking at the service record is a good idea. Who knows if the timing belt was done or not. Many people, including some on this forum, stretch this timing belt thing out because of cost.

Considering the milage, I don't think this a "hot deal". I would suggest you continue looking.

What size rims and tires are those? Also, the real mpg numbers are 16/22.

I just bought my '05 RX for $18,300 from the local Lexus dealer. Had 89,000 miles. No DVD or Nav. I think I did okay for what they were going for in my area. I may have been able to get a better deal, but I felt comfortable with the price and with the dealer.

You are correct, it's apples and oranges with many variables, I bought before the tsunami and there's no doubt prices are firmer now. lol, they were asking 19,750 for my car but I cried and begged and made a scene so they gave me a great price to get rid of me.

Reason to put off the t-belt due to cost may be short sightedness ... Postponing will not make it cheaper .. if anything it is most likely going to cost more $$. Cost of service is rising lot faster than your money will grow in the bank [I am not talking about high risk investments].
The other factor people cite is $$/miles. Since 90k interval is large, it multiples are far in between (90k, 180k, 270k, 360k). Now pick a milage that you think you will keep the rx for. By delaying the service, how many services can you skip? If you choose to sell, the new buyer will adjust the sale price based on the cost of service.

I see only 2 advantages.
You push the time of service based on availability of funds.
Your service money is lost, in case the vehicle is totaled after service.

Am I missing something else?

Well, I passed on it. Internet said it had 67K on it, when I got there to look at it, it had 119k on it. Quite the difference. They have since updated the website, due to my pointing out there egregious oversight. I left almost immediately, after they pointed me in the direction of a "nice" Suzuki XL-7...no thanks. .

I have no idea, some aftermarket crap. The RX looks great in pictures, looks pretty rough when you get there in person. It is a top of the line model with every option available at the time (HID's, Nav, back up cam, the works), but the interior was loud at highway speeds so it needed at least one wheel bearing, the suspension was clunky, and it had a slight valve cover leak. I decided to pass...especially when (after getting to the dealership) I found a service history gap from 67k to 119k miles...NOPE. On the upside, the interior and the paint were nearly flawless for a 6 year old car. But my truck has a lifetime powertrain warranty, and though I would have left without a payment, we all know when things go wrong, especially on a lexus, it gets spendy really fast.

Good idea to pass. The funky tires make me wonder what kind of person owned it. It's not top of the line either. I see no mention of ML. That was the most expensive package on the '04 and included nav. I'm sure you'll find something better.
