I assume you are referring to the DVD, right? You have a generation 4 system, so it requires a GEN4 DVD. Check out eBay Motors they are generally cheaper there, especially for versions that are several years old. Any brand new version 10.1 selling at a considerable discount would be a pirated copy, so beware.

Very involved upgrade. Nobody has tried it as far as I know. Lots of $$$ too.

Potential RX owners, for that matter any Lexus car, must look for units with built in NAV. Upgrade is quite expensive and must be invested on looking for cars that have NAV than looking to upgrade. Have not seen a unit which was upgraded.

OK, I guess the RP is referring to upgrading his Lexus Generation 4 hardware to a Generation 5. I haven't heard of anyone doing this. Not much bang for the bucks for sure. He might consider upgrading the DVD to to latest version (10.1), it would sure be less expensive. Maybe he will post back and clarify what exactly he wants to do and how much the Lexus dealership quoted to do it.

The 2004 RX330 uses Gen 2/3.

Also, I read it that the poster was trying to upgrade the DVD but didn't want to pay the $199 cost at the dealer.

Guess we will wait for the OP to confirm.
