Here is the situation.....
When I tap the side of the car, the break light goes back-on. The next day or so, the brake light goes off again. I guest it's not the light bulb because it seems like a short or something , but I don't know. Is there a fix for this or do we have to just go back to the dealer?

I would check the fluid level as well as the brake lights with the headlights on as well.

Not quite sure what your issue is other than your brake light being on.

When it goes off, I have to hit the side of the car to make it go back on.

The socket is squeeze type and the wires are folded over the glass bulb. Pull the bulb out and with a needle nose pliers align the wires. A bit of contact grease will prevent corrosion.


And be careful banging on the side .. the sheet metal can dent.

I can get the socket out, but the bulb seem fixed. I won't move or turn.

I've had a bulb filament come loose and it would be on and off just like yours is. Try a new bulb first before you go mcguyver on it.

It is a wedge bulb. You just yank that sucker out.

The brake light is different from a tail light. The tail light socket just screw off. Then I can see the bulb to just pull it off. The brake light is different. The socket is permanent fixed inside the assembly. I cannot even touch the bulb or see it. It's like the whole assembly must come off.

Ohhh... i think you have to replace the whole LED assembly.

No,it`s not. Actually it sucks! Mine was acting up for a while last year, then all of the sudden stopped happening. I suspect I`ll have to replace it sooner than later.

How much do the assembly cost if it has to be replaced? Any ideals?

Not sure, but I suspect not cheap.
