i had a 01 for 6 years and had no problem with the awd. I would say the awd and vsc saved my life a few times. plus the Rx and highlander have almost the same system and I have never heard anything bad about the awd system

I have a 1999 RX300 with 275K miles on it, never ever had a trans problem, ever. It is also AWD. The most expensive part ever put on the car were the Catalytic converters that failed at around 200K miles.
I have bought replacement engines from ATK that were a breeze to install.
