Poor radio reception
i like to listen to a certain radio station, but i get poor reception in the city, on the highway, its loud and clear. is there anything i can do to boost the reception?
as a side note, i noticed it because i drove a friends Chev Equinox, and its reception was outstanding.

i am facing the same problem.....although i had to put in a frequency booster to get the right radio range in this country. (i have a harrier from japan that stopped at 90fm)
im thinking of trying an aftermarket aerial...but don't want to ruin the oem look..
any suggestions?

that was kinda my thought, is there another aerial that will fit our cars? ours is about 4-6 inches long, i wonder if a 10-12 inch would fit (that's what he said?). and i dont think it wouldnt look to bad either.

The antenna is short, but it is actually a helically wound wire (many loops along its length) along a fiberglass rod. So it acts like it is much longer.
You could try various things to improve reception of one particular station at the possible expense of the other stations. Get some sticky metal tape (you can buy a small roll of aluminum metal tape with sticky backing a home depot in the airconditioning duct aisle). Cut a small piece, and wrap it completely around the very end of the antenna whip. Try the reception then and see if it is better.
You can try moving the aluminum tape ring to different spots on the length of the whip, maybe even hanging out over the end of the whip (to accentuate the lowest frequencies).
If that does not work, you would have to replace the whip antenna with another one, or maybe add a booster amp.
