Westside Lexus in Houston gave me a long list of things they say my car (2010 Rx350) needs done at 60k to keep it running at "optimal" performance. Individual prices are not given but the total price for all on the list would be $1247.25.
That's a heck of a lot of money for a 60k.
For 2010 60k, an oil change, tire rotation, full vehicle inspection, cabin air filter replacement, engine air filter replacement, and brake fluid replacement (all OEM parts and fluids) is $263.9.
Add transfer and differential fluid replacement makes it $363.9.

Haaa! Thanks for the offer ...but I will have to wait now until the snowy season ends up there because my blood is very thin from living in the south for 30+ years!
If the list they gave me weren't so long I would post it all here. I don't even know what some of these things are!
Thanks, everyone. Any other suggestions or advice about this subject will be greatly appreciated. So for the TO-DO list of 60k, I have: oil change, tire rotation, full vehicle inspection, cabin air filter replacement, engine air filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, transfer and differential fluid replacement....
We just had the aforementioned dealership change the oil (to the tune of $95)( they said:
"But t's good for 10,000 miles!), It must have had a full inspection recently, because the sticker is up to date; or are they talking here about another rarified, lexus-pro-inspector-completed, fancier, more extra-super-spectacular inspection than what is rewarded with "the sticker"?
Try another dealership (e.g., Toyota) and see what they say. It often pays to shop around.
I'm due for my 60K too. Figuring Lexus of Wayzata (here in MN) would be more expensive, I called the local Toyota Dealership and they quoted me "around $200, when all is said and done" for the standard 60K maintenance. Seems like a pretty good deal!
We just got quoted $1,254 for 60K mile service. Before the very generous 10% discount!!
Wonder if this includes blinker fluid.
Needless to say, I'm incredibly upset they're trying to take advantage of my wife. Have asked them to call me ASAP before starting any work on this vehicle.
I'm not the best at car repairs, but I at least do the cabin and engine air filters myself. Order your parts from Ebay, Amazon, wherever. Simple fixes that save you $, especially at the Lexus dealer.
That is why a lot of preventative maintenance items could be done in 15 minutes and save you lots of money. Use Ebay, Rockauto.com, etc to get the needed parts at a great discount, and find out just how much you are being ripped off. I am teaching my granddaughters how to do these things so that the money can stay in their purses....
