I have a '07 RX350 AWD, and it's time to get new tires. I am currently debating between two sets that have been recommended to me by the dealership & Costco:
Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza 235/55R18 100V
Michelin Energy MXV4 S8 P235/55R18 99V
The cost is in the same ballpark so that's not too a major factor. My naivety tells me to buy the one that has more tread depth (so it lasts longer) but I don't know if I ought to be basing my decision on that.
FYI I live in Southern California which gets no snow and very little rain. My driving habits are for normal street roads and highways, no dirt roads or narrow/winding roads. Any advice is appreciated.

Personally, I would pass on both of those selections. That particular Michelin has never gotten rave reviews. The Alenza is old technology. I have the Alenza on my RX330. Have liked them for my needs. More of a true all-season tire and I have drive in the snows of PA with them without issue.
The one tire I did not see mentioned by your Costco is the new Bridgestone Ecopia. If you go online with Costco to check the tires it will show up in that size. Something for you to consider.
There are also potentially other better tires to consider, especially for just wet conditions, such as the Pirellis. However, if you want to stick with Costco I would look at the Ecopia as an option.

BTW, the Ecopia should be a bit cheaper as well. Unfortunately, Bridgestone tires are not included in any of the Costco discounts this month. Just Michelin.

Advanced
-Two sets of OEM Michelin
-Two sets of Bridgestone Dueller Alenza
-One set of Goodyear Assurance ComforTred
We have about 6,000 miles on the Bridgestone Dueller H/L 422 Ecopia ... so far, really impressed.

never tried the bridgestone but i think the oem michelin's are very good. compared to the yokohama avid v4s (fastest wearing out tires of all time) i had on my car they lasted FOREVER

Just bought a set of the Goodyear Assurance Comfortred Touring tires this morning. Paid $778 with the $120 Visa gift card factored in and opened a Goodyear credit card for the additional discount it provided. Will keep an eye on them for a few months and let you all know our impressions. I really wanted to buy from Costco but all they had were the Michelins which are nice tires but don't wear very well and the Ecopias which were backordered 3-4 weeks. Couldn't wait since we're taking a trip to an area where we might run into some snow. What air pressure would you all recommend? They're at 35 right now and dealer said 30 should be fine. Thanks for any opinions.

I think you will like the Goodyear. If you look earlier in this thread you will see where others have made this purchase and were happy at least up to the last time they reported. Would run them at 35PSI for now during break-in. That should give you a better MPG during your trip. You can adjust from there. For day-to-day I leave my Alenza at 35-36PSI and do not mind the ride though I know it is a bit stiff.

Me like quite it's a lexus I want quite and little as possible road noise. No need for a sports tire or feel for my 400h . That's not why I wanted the LEXUS . A family member has an FX great car but not a lexus ride very very firm .

The dealer installed a new set of Michelin Pilot HX MXM4 in our 08 RX350 AWD when we bought the car 7 months ago, not as quiet as I would like but handle the rain beautifully. Not much rain or snow in the SF bay area anyway. We have had nothing but good thing to say about the Michelin Latitude Tour when we had the 08 CRV 4WD. I have a set of Michelin Primacy MXV4 in my 08 Avalon now and they are quiet.
As you can see, I buy nothing but Michelins.

I posted in thread 201 that I was happy with the stock Kumhos. Then I read the Tire Rack review. YUP, just like they said, it has shortcomings. It does not stop well and I managed to bury it in a stupid cross country venture. No, it's not as good as my Michelins but I would rate them as "adequate" for this winter (8" on roads). I'll replace them with Continentals when the time comes.

Best All-season tire choices
I just purchased the Michelin Pilot Sport AS/3.This tire performs much better than my previous tires(Hankook Ventus AS) The Michelin's so far have performed very well in the recent snow/ice storms here in Maryland.Quiet smooth ride also.

Continental Crosscontact LX20
Just put on a set of Continental Crosscontact LX20s at 110K I got from Tire Rack. The Bridgestones that were on there when we purchased it went +-45K and were decent. Hoping to get 70K out of the Continentals. They ride smooth and quiet so far.
