Default Lexus rx400h mileage

Hey everyone, I own a 2007 lexus rx 400h and for the past few months my mileage has been around 28mpg. However, in the last 2 weeks my mileage has dropped to about 24 mpg and I notice my engine kicking in a lot sooner when Im coasting on battery mode. Does anyone know what the problem might be? I havent changed anything about my car and still put in 91 octane fuel. My guess could be I might be over due for an oil change but the last time I did that was about 3500 miles ago. But still I find it strange how my mileage decreased out of no where. Any insight would be appreciated.

I have only owned the lexus for about 3 months now. I bought it in the middle of summer an am going into my first winter so do you think the cold weather could be the case? I will also check the tire pressure. Thanks

Two thoughts...

Have you recently disconnected the 12 volt battery?

Otherwise, I'd say colder weather combined with (depending on your geographical location) winter gas.

Happens every fall / winter.....gas engine has to run more to keep the catalytic converter at operating temperature and also to keep the coolant hot for cabin climate control. The winter gas thing..I dunno the exact reasons...something they do to fuel to prevent it freezing (more ethanol? Some sort of gas line antifreeze?)
