Default ML and dvd rear entertainment

I'm new here and just bought an 09 RX350 with ML 6 dvd changer with factory dvd rear entertainment system. I can get the rear movie to play on the front screen when parked but how do i get a dvd in the front dvd changer to show up on the rear screen?

My 2007 has the factory fold down DVD player. And you can get the audio to play anytime. But for the video you have to have the parking brake set.

I'm just trying to watch a dvd that's in the front dvd changer on the rear screen for my little girl since you can change out the rear dvd while driving.

Unless you buy a special adaptor cable. You will not be able to play your DVDs. To get to the play functions on the front screen. You need to have the car in park. And the parking brake set.

so it takes a special cable to watch a dvd on the rear entertainment system from the front dvd changer of the ML system? Just wondering what they thought everyone would use the 6 disc dvd changer for.

Just a guess but maybe its to play Compact Discs?

If you want to watch movies in the back. Put a disc in the DVD Player in the back. Then you can use the buttons on the player. Or use your remote.

The reason you cant watch movies up front is because it it illegal.

On the special cable. If you want to do just about everything while the car is moving. You will need the bypass cable.

Ever notice how stuff grays out or doesnt work when your moving?

Hi Auddrew21, we have an item that will bypass your DVD. In addition to the DVD, the bluetooth function will be bypassed so that you can dial numbers while the vehicle is in motion. The bypass can be active all the time so that you don't have to bother with any switches.

Here is the link to the product: http://www.beatsonicusa.com/beat-son...ss-module.html

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Eric

I think the question was the video doesn't show up on the rear screen while in park. Having the same issue on 07' RX400h, any ideas? It works fine back to front.....

Im pretty sure the DVD changer in the front is only for DVD audio not DVD video. I don't have the DVD player in my RX but that was how it worked in my Acura.

Same question here, can get it to work back to front but would like to use the ML changer for the rear system. I posted a thread about it, but I got no answers.

If you set the parking brake, the video will show on the NAV screen.

IIRC, on my '08 400h it's sufficient to have the gear in P to see the DVD, without requiring the parking brake - not that it makes a difference, obviously....

Anyway, as I understand, the OP is NOT interested in seeing a DVD on the front nav screen.
He just would like to see ONLY in the rear monitor a DVD played in the changer.
And in this respect he has a point, there's no logical reason for not allowing this.
But I'm afraid that's the way it is.....
