Buying a CPO sight unseen - Tips ?
#18
The dealer has posted quite a bit of pics here
According to the salesperson who did a walk around & drive there are no issues other than a couple of scratches on the door.
js619858 - Good suggestion about reaching out to local CL members.
At this point, I have a deposit down and if anyone is close by & willing to take a look for me , I will be more than happy to compensate for gas/time. PM me.

I suggest someone take a look for you, I would if it was in SoCal. Don't listen to the salesman! Mine was helpful and the car I bought was a CPO. I asked the salesman if there were scratches and dents, he said no of course!
When I got the car there were two dents on the side and some minor scratches. I asked him after and he said he didn't know and said sorry. Overall I was happy and thought I could trust him a little more BUT he's a salesman. I would still have bought and fix the dents for a lot cheaper than what SOCAL was trying to charge.
I say try real hard to have someone look at it, if not then it's up to you.
BUMP, Some in the area plz help!

I am not in the states and down here in Australia I purchased a car from the east coast (I live on the west coast) privately. I was quite nervous and I had a full run down of the vehicle done. I had the car fully inspected by a reputable source (called RAC) and they ran a full report on the car with any issues mechanically, cosmetic and otherwise and got the report. I also had some questions that I sent to the owner who responded with every facet of information that I wanted to know about the car. I love my car and still do, however maybe the leather could have been better and a couple of spots of dirt here and there, but for the most part I have a reliable (knock on wood) car and it has been of a great service to me so far.

I know you should pay for those service called mobile inspectors to drive over there to inspect the car. Service most likely is around $100-$300. There's one I found http://www.automobileinspections.com which is kind of expensive but you get my idea.
They can drive out and inspect everything, if Lexus agrees! Something I wish I did before I bought mine from Ohio. If they find problems you can ask Lexus to fix it before you pay.
Just an idea if no members are in the area.

Any Lexus warranty?
You won't see anything major anyway (like transmission or engine inner defects) by eye, assuming dealer doesn't clearly lie to you. Small (minor) defects - you will find some anyway, would you take car with them - I think yes.
If there is a Lexus (extended) warranty (hope CPO provides one) - I would've taken the risk.
Hope you save enough for some risk.
P.S. Took a look at other RXs from the dealer - the price difference for your car is suspicious - isn't it too low?

A big shout out to lexus114 for offering to check out the car for me.
As a side note, none of us realized today was a bank holiday (veterans day)
and my payment was due today.
So, the wire transfer will be sent today online but not hit the dealership bank
until Monday.

As for the price difference, the reason i was given is that this vehicle has hit the 60 day
mark on the lot.
