Default Trans Fluid? Toyota Brand Best??

I had a recall done on my RX330 for the Brake Booster deal and asked to get some Trans Fluid so O could change it myself.T ried to search for this and nothing? Picked up the car and they sold me Quaker State ATF from Superior Lexus in Kansas City. Like 10.00 too! Made some jack on that. I have in the past bought Toyota brand from a Toyota Dealer thinking this would be best for spec. I had a RX 300 trans go bad once and will not do that again - 3000.00

So is Quaker State OK?

Look on the back of the bottle to see if it is spec'd for toyota type-iv. If not, don't use it...I still wouldn't use it even if it was listed, because I haven't heard of anyone using it, and I don't think you want to be the guinea pig testing it out.

Stick with Toyota Type-IV or Castrol Multi-Vehicle ATF.

Here's a diy for transmission fluid change if you need one: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...-and-pics.html

I find it strange they sold you that at a Lexus dealership. I'd try to return it if possible, and get the correct fluid or at least get a refund.

I like Mobile 1 ATF fluid as well as Royal Purple. I have this in my transmission as well as power steering.

This is a never ending debate.

What ever you choose, it needs to meet or exceed manufacturers specifications. Do the research and choose. Just keep in mind, the normal drain and fill, will not empty out the system and what you add must be willing to co-exist with what you have.

So if you are draining and filling with leftover Toyota Fluid in it, it makes sense to put the same brand in.

Just like an oil change, just make sure you use the appropriate fluid, Type T-IV, as discussed. Switching brands is not an issue.

Just a cautionary note to any RX350 owners reading this posting. The RX350 does not use Type IV Transmission fluid, It uses Toyota World Standard fluid instead. These two types of transmission fluids are NOT interchangeable.
