Default Resetting the oil change on navi

Hey all, the navi on the screen says that it's time for an oil and filter change. It keeps popping up. The dealership quoted $80 for regular oil so I'm thinking of doing it myself . But wanted to know if I were to change it, will it turn off by itself? Or will I have to do something in the settings to reset it for the next interval?

You will need to reset it by yourself. The instructions are in the manual. [I don't know about the navigation model]. You probably can also find the way to do it by searching this site. Good luck!

Here is a DIY oil change procedure with PICTURES. The GS350 and RX350 are done the same way. The old spin off type oil filter went away with the 2007 model year.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...-pictures.html

Reseting the Maintenance Required Light:

Make sure the odometer is set to total miles not trip. With the key in the off position, push in and hold the odometer button (ODO). Turn the key to the on position without starting the car. Continue to hold in the odometer reset button until the maintenance required light goes off (about 20 seconds).

Is there a way to turn off the oil reminder on a 2006 RX without NAV. I find that thing to be a pain in the ***. I keep good records and know when to change the oil.

On my 09RX350, it is as described in a earlier post. It probably works for the 06RX too. Worth a try?

Ah! -- remove the bulb? cover/paint over the face of the dial?
But once every 5K miles isn't so often?

so heres another question...i've been reading that the RX oil change interval is every 5k miles. If this is true, will any good brand of semi-synthetic/full synthetic weight oil be ok? Especially to leave it in there for 5k miles? I dont know if its ok to do that since most of us are use to changing it every 3k miles

The 3K mile oil changes are a thing of the past for new vehicles. Some, such as BMW and VW, have intervals of 10K or more.

Use a quality oil and a quality filter if you DIY and you will be fine. The better the oil, the better. I like using Mobil 1 in my RX along with WIX/NAPA Gold filters.

Plenty of threads here in the forums on the topic of oil and filters.

Lexus requires oil changes at 5k mile intervals. Use any high quality oil that meets the owner manual specification. If you decide to use synthetic oil you should still change at 5k, especially if the vehicle is under warranty. Also if you go over to synthetic stay with it, don't which back and forth.

Hi all!
I'm wondering if I set the date of oil/filter change on my navi (say in 10,000 miles) will it overwrite the programmed by Lexus 5,000 miles default set up or the maint. req. light will keep coming out regardless my personal settings?
Thanks for any help.
