I am a first time Lexus owner having recently purchased a 2004 RX330. I saw a Motor Trend website listing of a Recall from last year regarding an Engine/Engine Coolant problem. However, when I called the local Lexus Service Department, they indicated no recalls for my car and this problem. Does anyone know about this recall and why my car might not be affected by it? Any feedback would be welcome. I am thrilled to be part of the Lexus Community having recently left the Land Rover one.

You will want to go to the Lexus Owner's web site and register your vehicle. Here is the URL:

Once you have logged in successfully you will be able to see the maintenance records for your RX for items performed at a Lexus dealership. You will also be able to check what recalls which affect your RX that are still open.

Recalls do not always affect every vehicle in a particular model year. Sometimes it is just those RX that were built in Canada or just in Japan. Or, perhaps just a small number in a given production run over a few days.

I took a look at the recall you mentioned and what I saw has been discussed previously here at Club Lexus. I have a 2004 RX330 as well, built in Japan, and my RX is also not affected by this particular recall.

Thanks, RX330inFL! This is all very helpful information. I guess cars aren't terribly different than beer. Just had some beer recalled of the same type that I had purchased but it was a different batch!

There have been recalls for the RX which affect an entire year's run of the RX. Too many, IMHO. By registering at Lexus Owners, have your VIN available, you will get a chance to keep up-to-date on any services you may need. If you need a new Owners Manual, you can order one there for free as well.

As for Club Lexus, many questions you might want to ask have probably already been asked. Get to know the search features of the forum -- it is your friend.
