Default Can I add a Nav unit to an RX350 that doesn't have Nav

Looking to trade my IS250 AWD for a used Rx 350. Many don't have the factory Nav. Just wondering if it is possible to swap in an OEM type nav unit and how expensive and difficult would it be. Alternatively, are there any good aftermarket units that would be better or easier to upgrade. TIA

In my book, too expensive. I use a Garmin, however, many cellphones also have outstanding turn-by-turn GPS capabilities. They are also much easier and cheaper to keep up-to-date. Give it some thought.

Carver just recently made a thread on here about the navigation unit in the RX330. It's basically the same deal with an RX350.

Here's the link:https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...nd-gen-rx.html

Default Aftermarket Nav

If you dont get Navigation. Just get one of the Beatsonic kits. And an aftermarket Double DIN stereo. And your good to go.

Default This will probably be your most expensive option.

I saw this on Youtube. Was thinking about what's the best way to do Bluetooth Audio streaming and ipod control and video. Although he keeps saying Japan, me personally, I think this is Beat-Sonic Adapter.

My iPhone does a better job than my NAV. Cheaper too, as the maps are always current.

I know quite a few people mentioned phone navigation but IMHO a gps device would be much better.

Some areas or big cities you loose your mobile signal you lose your directions.
If you get a phone call and have caller ID, it'll block or interrupt your directions.
Even if you have a charger, constantly using it will shorten the life of your battery.
A Mobile screen is still smaller than a stand alone GPS
Police are really cracking down on using your phone while driving although you're using the GPS.

IMHO, if you're not getting a stock NAV, than a stand alone GPS would be the better route to go, Garmin now have LMT devices, meaning free Lifetime Maps & Traffic, I believe you can update it at least 4 times a year.

just a suggestion.

I am very firm on the idea that going factory navi would be an entire waste of time and money. I think it would cost you well over $3K just to get the unit and some parts not including install if even possible.

I have the naiv and ended up getting the Kenwood DD for a newer stereo and the Garmin Navi is my main one now. Cost me about $1,200

Guys, thanks for your input. This thread is now meaningless to me since I just purchased an 2008 RX 350 WITH the NAV, so thanks for the help. I will post details and introduce myself in a separate thread.
