Great news! My pulley failed!

Carver, I would just do an oci with the regular oil. It wont hurt a thing. These motor`s dont specify Synthetic any way. Then switch to Mobil-1 the next oil change. Oh and glad everything worked out! I see they used 5W-20 oil, glad i made the switch.

Do you find your car to have lost some of it's power now? I do for sure. And now the steering wheel creaks a bit and I hear a belt whine every time I start the car. So annoying.

I'm so jealous of you people with no snow and salt. Those bolts on the exhaust manifold cover in the picture are all rusty on my car.
Carver, new tensioner too!!! That recall saved you a fair amount of money...
lexus114, you've tried the 5w20...now we just need to slip some 0w20 in there..maybe next winter??

Maybe, but I really like the Pennzoil so far. I have also been looking for the Valvoline White Bottle 5W-20. But everybody picks it out here where I live! They know a good product when they see one I guess.

I dont understand, why would it have lost any power? Unless the belt is off a notch or something.

It's running great, no noise at all. In fact I think the pulley had been failing for a long time and i had gotten used to the whine. I hate to keep saying it but Sewell just doesn't turn out bad work.

So, this pulley recall includes timing belt change? I just did mine (the pulley recall), but that was only it. They do nothing to the timing belt. Am I missing something here?

My pulley actually failed and caused damage to the parts they replaced. If your pulley was replaced prior to failure then they only replaced the defective part.
I dont think waiting until failure is a very good option. There could be damage beyond what was replaced, I was extremely lucky to have the outcome I did. There's no guarantee anyone would have the same result. A lot depends on the dealer and Sewell here in Dallas is committed to customer service and will tilt in the customers favor when possible. Some dealers have a culture of doing as little as possible and fortunately, Sewell doesn't.
