I'd love to yank out the cd and cassette player and put a nice 2-din in my 2006 400h... just picked it up used last week for a great price. Was contemplating either a double-din mod or just hooking up a VAIS iphone adapter

Seems to be a lot of interest in modernizing the 330. Don't forget, no matter which brand you are considering, someone has already put one in some vehicle and has posted it on YouTube. Very important to see your choice in action before spending the big bucks.

Here is that search using eBay for Canada:

Just be careful as there are many selling knockoffs and not true OEM faceplates. That may be OK, just make sure you are comfortable with the return policies.
Try looking at this Beat-Sonic kit:

BeatSonic is the best way to go for the faceplate. (expensive but worth it)
As mentioned before, there are knockoffs, the fit and finish on the BeatSonic kit is good.

KD,
you need the beatsonic rx-82. it's $400. i've been emailing them today looking into it myself. here's what it does according to them:
RX-82 will do following things for your vehicle.
1. Retain your factory navigation.
2. Integrate your factory amplifier.
3. Retain your partial steering wheel control (Volume, Mode, View/Disp)
You will lose following things by installing RX-82.
1. No steering wheel control over your new aftermarket head unit will be available. (Volume works by triggering your factory amp, not the head unit)
2. Phone/blue tooth/talk switch will not be functional.
3. Tune.tracking switch will not be functional.
4. Sound will come out from all speaker, but you will not be able to control front and rear balance fader, because RX series are equipped with 2 channel amp, not 4 channel.
You will experience following things if RX-82 is not installed.
1. You will not get any sound unless the amp is rewired or replaced with the aftermarket amp.
2. Your climate control will not work.
3. Your factory navigation will not work.
4. You will lose all your steering wheel control.
here's the link:
http://www.beatsonicusa.com/stereo/s...nic-rx-82.html
also, concerning the connections of your new stereo to their adapter, they also replied-
"Yes, double DIN head units usually comes with RCA connectors, but our sound module does not use RCA and here's why. RCA are used when pre-amps on the head units are used, but you have a factory amplifier in your Lexus, and our module integrates it, so it does not use the RCA. RX-82 wires use bullet connector and we recommend you to get the matching bullet connector from place like radio shack, and use it on the harness that comes with the aftermarket head unit. "
hope that helps
