Rear Caliper pin
All,
One of my rear brakes has show rusty sign on the surface few month ago, now it is almost all rusty. The brake pad is not touching the disc when the brake pedal is pressed.
I suspect a seized caliper pin, tried to clean the pin but my first obstacle is the caliper bolt (13mm), I struggled to untight it. Don't want to risk rounding it. Any suggestion?
Has anyone got an exploded diagram of the rear caliper housing? Just want to understand the whole assembly. I have taken off the rear caliper of my VW Jetta quite a few times but this might be different from the Lexus one.
THanks.

A product such as PB Penetrating Catalyst should do the trick. Just follow the instructions on the can. Let it soak for a bit before you crank on that pin.

I agree with guys above.
I asked the Lexus service tech print out the rear brakes overhauling procedure. 4-5 pages with step-by step instructions and diagrams including the torque specs on each bolt were very helpful (and free!)
If you strip the head on bolt, it will cost $6-$12 depending if you order from a dealer or get a discount.
The upper and lower pins are different, so make sure you know which part you need.
If the rubber boot is torn, replace that as well.
Don't forget to lube when putting everything together.
Good luck!
