On vacation having issues
Hi, I have an 07 350. Still under CPO warranty. I'm in the Florida panhandle on vacation between destin and panama city. I don't think there is a dealership anywhere near. My vehicle is vibrating and jerking something awful when I put it in gear. Yes, the check engine light is on. No clue who to call or what to do. Call my local dealer back in TN or roadside assist?
Thanks
Casey

Take it to an Auto Zone or Advance Auto and have them scan for codes. That will be free and will at least point you in the right direction. It could be as simple as a bad spark plug coil and the code would actually tell you which one is bad. Also consider going to a Toyota dealer. Even if you have to pay it is better than ruining your vacation.

Even in the Florida panhandle, where man and beast live alike, there must be some competent auto mechanics. You NAV system, under the "Emergency" icon, will show you both the Lexus and Toyota dealers, and will list them by distance from the car's location. No NAV system? That's OK - put on your reading glasses because any smart phone will do the same thing.
I would say find the nearest Lexus or Toyota dealer. If that is too far away, I'd try to find the nearest independent mechanic. As noted above, the car will spit out the code that triggered the light, which is usually, but not always, related to the cause of the problem (it may have been triggered by one of the effects).
Problems like this happen, and they are a pain when at home, and 10 times worse when out of town. The reliability of a Lexus suggests that the odds of this happening at low, but life is like that.
Good luck.

THanks for the replies all. I called roadside and was going to have to get towed to Mobile which is 3 hrs away. Get a loaner to get back to the beach and do it all again when the vehicle was ready for pickup. I drove it a bit today and it only exhibits symptoms while idling. I'm going to give it a go and drive back to TN Saturday. there's just no way I was going to deal with Mobile unless it wasn't operational at all. Thanks
