Help: Radio controls stopped working - steering wheel and touch screen works
Strange problem started today. The radio buttons on my RX stopped working and the LCD on the radio is lit up with no characters. The steering wheel controls and the navi touchscreen still work in controlling the audio. Has anybody had such an issue? I might have to buy a used unit to replace this - anybody have a source other than eBay?
Thanks in advance!
the vehicle is a 2008 RX350 with nav, wo ML

lol, yup strangely enough I miss the ****, perfect size and location.
I posted it in the classifieds, plenty of lookers but no takers. I'd probably have to come down on the price.
A part of me wants to hold on to it for sentimental value but the logical side says it's only going to collect dust if I keep it. So I might as well sell it and go on to the next mod.

Radio Problems
About 6 months after I bought my 2007 RX. I had a problem with my XM Reciever. It worked but the channel select on the radio and ***** didnt. But they did with the steering wheel.
I turned off the car. And restarted it with no help. On my 2001 RX I use to pull the fuses for the ECU all the time to reset the transmission.
So when I got home I couldnt find the radio fuses. So I just disconnected the battery. After a few minutes I hooked it back up. Reset all the windows and settings. And everything worked ok.
A few months ago my original battery in my 2007 started to go bad. I had a couple of crazy things happen with the electrical system. And knowing that a weak battery causes problems. I went ahead and changed it out. Since then no problems.
It may not fix your problem. But its better than dropping a grand on a new radio. To find out.

I found a stereo on eBay - I guess I'll have something to do next weekend.

Thread ended - Happy ending
Purchased a unit off eBay, and did a R&R- it took literally twenty minutes from start to finish. The old unit has an obviously loose piece inside and I'll see if united radio has an interest in fixing it. In any case, I would like my CD's out of the unit, so we'll see how chapter 2 goes.
Thanks again for all the input.
