Angry HELP!! problem w/ 2009 RX 350

Hello All,

I just bought a 2009 RX 350 "certified" has 52K miles last Thursday and I had very bad experience.... Here how is my story started........

My wife and I went to see the vehicle on last Wednesday which is the day before we purchased the vehicle... everything was fine and we liked the car, everything was there (Tunnel Cover, First aid kit, tools, spares, etc...).. so I asked the salesman abt this extra warranty that the car has which is 3 years or 100K miles... and whether or not if the car will be covered under this warranty as well if we moved to Canada cuz I might move there in 4 months... he replayed, NO it won't be....this warrnaty only valid in USA... and he said, ok you really don't need the warranty cuz you'r moving soon and I can drop the price by $900.....so I thought abt it and I said OK why not i am moving anyway...and I didn't take the warranty.

On Thursday, when I picked the car I looked a round, the tunnel cover was missing, so I asked him?where is it and why its not there... he said actually it does not come with car you have to purchase one from online or sth.. I said it was right there yesterday, so he went and grapped me another one from another 09 rx 350.... and the story goes on... so, I left.... I live abt two hrs away from the Lexus dealer... so the car got very dirty and I decided to wash it.
then, went home,,,,,

Next morning, I went to show my friends the car and I noticed the following:
1) the right headlight has water in it.
2) the First aid kit were missing.
3) I called different Lexus dealer abt the 3 years warranty that I didn't take , he said, the dealer is wrong and the warranty valid in USA and CANADA .

so what shall I do now???? I am very disappointed and not sure what to do....

Will appreciate all suggestions / recommendation

Water in headlights is a very common symptom of a manufacturer's problem. Nothing the dealer is going to do about that.
The first aid kit is WAY over rated. I've had two RX's and I think I've used it once at a picnic for a band aid.

As for the warranty, I am uncertain, but that seems to be your biggest gripe.

With which dealership were you dealing? Just for future reference for those here who may live in PA. We may also have a different dealership for you to deal.

Water in the headlight is a common problem. Just perform a search here. As you are under warranty you may be able to get this fixed. Depends on the dealership.

The tonneau cover is standard with the vehicle. It was never and has never been an option. Simply put, I would be telling that salesperson...

If it was all there when you viewed the vehicle and is now missing, I would be taking that list to the sales manager to complain and as loudly as possible. However, if it is just the first aid kit now missing and you do not want to deal it it in that manner you have other choices. You can go without. I have never used the one in my 2004. The first aid kit can be purchased from eBay if you want the Lexus edition. If you feel the need for one, you can always purchase a number of other editions available online, such as the AAA kit:

As for extending your warranty, as long as you are under warranty that can be addressed. If your looking to purchase one I recommend you contact Jerry at Midwest Toyota.

Just send him your location of purchase, VIN and current miles to get a quote.

Thanks guys,
Just to clarify, the vehicle was certified but I did not take the warranty for the fact that he said it won't work in Canada. The car has 52k miles so there is no basic warranty. The only thing left is the drivetrian warranty which is up to 70k miles. I really don't care abt the first aid kit as much as the cpo warranty. Is there anyway to get the warranty back again.

Check with Jerry. As you are under the 7/70 drive train warranty there may be something still available to you.

Forget to mention that the dealer located in Akron OHIO.....

So, I emailed Jerry and I did call LEXUS and shared with them my dealership experience and the created a file for me and I reported all what happened... from CPO warranty to headlight problem and I told them I don't want to deal with that dealer anymore..... and they said they would have a specialist to contact the dealer and get back to me in one to two days and that consider like cheating.

Hopefully they would do sth....

Once this is all straightened out you will not need to deal with them for service. For your time in the States there are other dealers you can use. We have several of our regulars here in the Pittsburgh area who might be able to give you a suggestion for a dealership to use for warranty work. From your posts I might guess you are somewhere between Pittsburgh and Grove City.

For just the regular service items such as oil changes you can use a local independent shop or your local Toyota shop if you are not a DIY. Many Toyota dealers now have Express Lube service to get you in and out quick and for a lot less money.

BTW, be sure to tell Jerry you may be moving to Canada as that will perhaps have some impact on the information he provides back to you. Make sure any plan is good there.

Thanks to you all for your inputs and sharing your thought......

GOOD NEWS!!!!
Thanks to LEXUS CUSTOMER RELATION DEPARTMENT,,,, I received a call back from LEXUS headquarter and they are willing to replace both headlight at no cost, but the bad thing is that I have to go back to the same dealer. btw I found out that each will cost me $1800 to $1900 to replace them on my own..as far as the warranty they are figuring sth out and they will contact me again for that.....

NOW, I noticed vibration when i go 55+ MPH, I thought its from the road or sth,,,,, but then I realized that its coming from the rear side of the car.... and it increased as I accelerate,,, I literally can see the back seat vibrate and its light but very annoying if you set in the back.. I took it to Goodyear next door here and checked the alignment and balance and it was perfect...

Any Clue what could be wrong???

yes, i've also heard and research the forum that the whole headlight assembly is quite expensive, more than 1000K each, very common problem for the rx 350's as mention on this thread.

Im sorry for your setback at the dealership, but once this is all over, you do not have to ever deal with them . Call and speak to a superior before driving back since its 2 hours away.

as for the noise, rear strut/shockt? brake? rotors??

have you taken the spar jack and wrench out and maybe see unde the plastic cover??

also do a carfax to see if there is any history of wrecks/damage./dents?? have a indepedent mechanic or bodyshop to see if there is structural damage, but that would be a worst case scnerio

Thanks to all of you guys RX330inFL, HtownBlue, StLucchese, and kickin8.

Alright here what I found out abt the vibration thing, I took my car again to different tire store where they have a ROAD FORCED BALANCE and they found out that the rear right tire is structurally damaged and needed to be replaced.... what on earth is going on with this dealer... I really don't understand how can they sell a car with a damaged tire, I would totally accepted it if it has low tread depth BUT NOT FREKIN STRUCTURALLY DAMAGED....

ONE MORE ADVICE: ALWAYS TAKE YOUR CAR TO AT LEAST TWO DIFFERENT MECHANICS TO BE SURE YOU HAVE GOOD DIAGNOSTIC...
IN MY CASE, THE GOODYEAR STORE COULDN'T FIGURE THE PROBLEM AND FOUND EVERYTHING IS NORMAL WHICH I DIDN'T BELIEVE SO I TOOK IT NEXT MORNING TO FIRESTONE CUZ THEY USE A FORCED ROAD BALANCE WHICH ONLY TOOK ME HALF HOUR TO FIGURE THE PROBLEM...
