Default 2 questions, Brakes and Sunshades...help

Ok, first

1. Brakes, I am on sewell parts online, about to purchase front brake pads, I see all the DIY and topics about them, but I havent found a topic that says if they have replaced the

A. Brake pads
B. Front Shim Kit
C. Front Fitting Kit

have you guys replaced all of those or just the front brake pads??? car is a 2004, with around 75k miles on it.

What kind of sunshade do those people in the warm/hot climates use??? my better half was telling me shes seen those shades that attach to the Pillar and you can pull them across the windshield, does anyone have one of those?? or do you just go with the.

I ordered and changed rotors and pads for the front brakes. Did not use any shim kit or fitting kit from Lexus.

They have been great for at least 2 years now. I don't know what the fitting kit even comes with.

well good to know then, will probably just place an order for the front brakes, and have the rotors resurfaced.

this is what those kits Include

Most good pads come with the shims already installed don't they?

I went with Raybestos Advanced Technology pads and rotors and am very pleased.

Others use the stock pads and are pleased with those as well.

I re-used my shims they were in perfect condition.

I use the Costco sunshade. Big enough to fill the RX and takes 2 seconds to store. Comes with window shades as well. Fits the side pocket.

Shims usually do not wear out like pads. You can re-use them as long as they are not bent during the service. If you use new ones, good as well.

I use a retractable sunshade for all my vehicles, because I live in FL year round.

Here's a website of the manufacturer.

http://www.dashdesigns.com/Products.aspx?Pid=3

Make sure u get the right size. I didn't and getting a replacement was rediculous with these people. It took 2 months. But the quality is good

We have been using a collapsible double round heat shield but we'll switch to the Canvas Works Heatshield (looks like the same thing via that Sewell link) that we use in our other vehicles.
