Re-Upholster dashboard
Hi,
I have a 2004 rx300 and the dashboard cracks have started to appear. I have searched and read about this and it looks to be a manufacturing defect that Lexus isn't owning up to. Unfortunately in Hong Kong, the soup **** has better service than the dealership here.
I read about people getting it fixed, but has anybody heard or seen the whole dashboard be re-upholstered?? Is it possible since it is Vinyl? I tried googling this but couldn't find anything (might be cause its Monday and my brain isn't at it full googling capacity yet).
Thanking You,
RnR

Not re-upholstered but if I see them start, this will be my way to cover it up on ours. Have yet to see how it looks, might get one to slow the process down a bit.
There are other brands out there and has been discussed in other posts.

Perhaps a visit to a local auto body repair shop specializing in higher end vehicles is in order. They might be able to recommend a local restoration outfit or provide information for obtaining a replacement if you want to go about it yourself.

A shop that specializes in leather repair should be able to to fill in cracks in the vinyl and fix it. Or you can try to purchase a vinyl repair kit and take on the task yourself.

Just flip it upside down
It'll be difficult to get it repaired, once the crack starts to form, who knows where it'll stop, will need the whole area re-covered as you mentioned in your first post.
Good luck mate!

I have the same issue where the dash looks like Freddy Krueger was there. Razor blade slices here and there. I called a repair place and it ranges from $500+ depending on the damage and could go up to $2k easily per our convo. I have no choice cause I really don't want a cover. Looks tAcky IMO

Hence protect your dashboard with AS303. Every 3 to 4 weeks, apply AS303. Fights UV.

this is a manufacturing defect....i could rub it with fat off the back of a baby seal and it would still crack...unfortunately Lexus isn't owning up to it and offering a recall even though it occurs on all 2003 - 2006 rx300/330 models around the world.
