About to Embark on an RX330 Towing Adventure
Pittsburgh to Phoenix: 2150 miles. Years driving experience: 33. Years towing experience: 0
I should have my head examined...trailer with the bike in it is just under 2000 pounds. Took a ride around this afternoon and it handles surprisingly well however I think I'm gonna spend a small fortune in gas getting out there. Leaving at 4am est tomorrow!

Thanks guys - I am probably the only person on the planet that doesn't have a smart phone, but I did a trip like this a few years ago in my RX300 and kept detailed mileage and mpg stats as well and will do the same for this trip and post them over the weekend. Will post a few pics from along the way too. Figure the info will be interesting since it will be from towing a 2000 pound load. More to come later.

We had a great trip. On to the towing front my observations are these:
The RX330 performed admirably towing this 2000 pound load across the country. The mileage was horrendous but this comes as no suprise. In fact, the average MPG was 13.22...kept detailed records of the mileages between fill ups. The only irk, if you will, was when you had the cruise on (I did not have it in O/D) the car would constantly shift into 3rd even on a slight upgrade, but when I turned the cruise off, and maintained the speed manually via the accelerator, the car almost never downshifted...would have been nice if the cruise would have done this for me on a trip of 2154 miles in two days. Yea, I said that right...1210 miles the first day and 944 miles the second day.
I did a drain and fill on the motor oil before I left and when I got to Phoenix it looked unchanged, and the engine really worked hard the whole way out as you can imagine. Trans fluid still smelled sweet, but is a little discolored and will swap it out soon.
So the pictures I will post are from a speeding car from St.Louis on to AZ on the following link. Everything up until then looked the same from Pittsburgh and since it was dark for most of that way there weren't many picutures anyway.

Glad to hear you had a great trip!
How fast were you able to go while towing the load?
Wow, 1200 miles in one day. The most I've covered in one day is 1000 miles, by then I have to let the next person drive.

Great pics! OMG, 2154 in two days, you must be a teenager. I thought I was a real jock or doing 700 in a day! And I can promise you my sore ask would be nowhere near a motorcycle seat for at least a week!
